We started the process to get Emily into the PLAY Project!
Our insurance does not cover any therapy unless it is rehabilitative in nature. So, all of Alex's and Emily's needed speech, OT, and PT is not covered. Facing tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket, which we don't have and can't get, we started looking into alternatives. Our county offers services on a sliding scale, and today we met with an agency that has the PLAY Project. As it stands, we will be paying $62/mo out of pocket for Emily's therapies. A huge relief and answer to prayer!
Life on a resident's salary usually pretty much sucks, but today it was a benefit.

Mom's Pound Cake Recipe
1 cup butter, softened
3 cups granulated sugar
6 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2-1tsp almond extract
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs individually. Combine flour, soda, and salt. Add dry ingredients and sour cream, alternating wet and dry. Add extracts.
Bake at 350 in greased and floured 10" tube pan for 70-80 minutes.
PS. Mom also sometimes makes streusel with cinnamon and finely chopped pecans to sprinkle in a light layer. Just add about half of the mixture, then the streusel, then the remaining mixture. HEAVENLY for breakfast when it is toasted with a bit of butter.
